Blockd Terms of Use
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and EVI Holdings, LLC ("we," "us") that governs your use of the Blockd app, the Blockd browser extension, and blockdvpn.com. By downloading or using Blockd, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use Blockd.
1. What Blockd is — and is not
Blockd is a self-help tool for people working on recovery from compulsive content use. It provides content blocking, habit tracking, journaling, educational lessons, and community support features.
Blockd is not medical care. It isn't a medical device, therapy, counseling, or a substitute for professional diagnosis or treatment. Content in the app, including lessons, Brain Recovery progress, the BUDDY feature, and community posts, is for informational and motivational purposes only. If you're struggling with addiction or your mental health, or you're in crisis, please get help from a qualified professional or emergency services. In the US, you can call or text 988. Never disregard professional advice because of something you read in Blockd.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 17 years old (or the minimum age required in your country, if higher) to use Blockd.
3. Content filtering and the VPN configuration
How it works. To filter content across your device, Blockd installs a VPN configuration using Apple's Network Extension framework, with your permission. Filtering runs on your device, as described in our Privacy Policy. Blockd isn't a VPN service for privacy, anonymity, or changing your location, and you shouldn't use it for those purposes.
No guarantee. Blockd's filter is designed to block adult content and other categories you enable, but no filter is perfect. New websites appear constantly, content can be misclassified, and technical measures can be circumvented, for example through other VPNs, encrypted DNS, or settings changes. We don't guarantee that all unwanted content will be blocked or that permitted content will never be blocked. The filter is a support tool, and your recovery choices remain your own. Blockd is not a parental control and shouldn't be relied on as the only safeguard for anyone.
Your control. You can turn off the filter or remove the configuration at any time. Some features deliberately make turning off protection take more effort. That is part of how Blockd works.
4. Subscriptions and purchases
- Some features require a paid subscription, purchased through your Apple account.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- Free trials. If you're offered a free trial, you're charged when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand.
- Managing and canceling. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your device Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's terms. We can't issue App Store refunds directly.
- Prices may change. We'll give notice as required, and changes apply to later billing periods.
5. Community rules
The Community exists to support recovery. By posting, you agree not to submit content that:
- is sexually explicit, or describes acting-out content in graphic detail;
- harasses, shames, threatens, or bullies anyone;
- promotes self-harm, or provides instructions to circumvent blocking tools;
- is spam, advertising, or solicitation;
- infringes anyone's rights or violates any law;
- impersonates others or shares someone's private information.
To protect the Community, we may remove content or restrict accounts at our discretion, with or without notice. You can delete your own posts at any time, and you can report objectionable content in the app or at support@blockdvpn.com. We aim to act on reports within 24 hours.
License to your posts. You keep ownership of what you write. By posting, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute your posts within the app so the Community can function. This license ends when you delete content, except for copies that were already reshared through the app's normal operation or that the law requires us to keep.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to reverse engineer, tamper with, or disrupt the app or its services. You also agree not to probe or breach security measures, access other users' data, or use the app for any unlawful purpose.
7. Intellectual property
Blockd, including its design, brain character, animations, text, lessons, and software, is owned by EVI Holdings, LLC or its licensors and is protected by law. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as the App Store terms permit. You may not copy, sell, or redistribute the app or its content.
8. Disclaimers
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY CONTENT WILL BE BLOCKED OR AVAILABLE.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, EVI HOLDINGS, LLC WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Termination
You may stop using Blockd at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access, including Community access, if you violate these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (including 5, 7, 8, 9, 11 and 12) survive termination.
11. Apple
These Terms are between you and EVI Holdings, LLC, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to meet an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). Apple has no other warranty obligation to the extent the law allows. Apple isn't responsible for any product liability, legal compliance or intellectual property claims relating to the app. You confirm that you aren't located in a US-embargoed country and aren't on a US government list of restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, unless the law gives you the right to bring claims in your local courts.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If the changes are material, we'll notify you in the app and update the effective date. If you keep using Blockd after the changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms.
